Claire BCK creates

I am a visual artist and printmaker based in Moray, Northeast Scotland. My practice is shaped by travel, observation and a deep interest in the textures and histories that accumulate in the built, cultural and natural environment, capturing the textures, colours and quiet stories around me.

With a background in the historic environment, my fascination with cultural heritage often influences my work.
My prints and collages emerge from sketchbooks filled on the move, capturing fleeting light, overlooked details and the emotional resonance of spaces people pass through without noticing.

Alongside my creative practice, I work part‑time and volunteer at a local museum, weaving my lifelong love of art, heritage, and community into everything I make. I am committed to carving out more space for creativity, nurturing a long‑held ambition to build a career centred on artistic exploration.

I work with artist and Creative Coach Sam Marshall to develop my creative career. I am privileged to have been a member of Sam’s “Sketch Squad” as part of her new book Sketch. The Squad worked through all of the exercises Sam brought together in her book, testing them all out while at the same time developing our own artistic skills and confidence. Sketch is a wonderful accompaniment to anyone interested in starting a creative journey. It gently encourages you to explore mark making through sketching. Beginning with simple warm-up exercises, it guides you through a series of drawing prompts in a really supportive way. And the key message is something that I hold dear to my heart – everyone can draw and we are all creative creatures!
